Michael is a go-to name for comedy in the Asian region. A geographical mutt of origins, Michael started his comedy career in 2007 within Hong Kong’s budding comedy scene. An initial taste of the stage at a comedy workshop had him hooked.
Michael began commuting from his graduate school to hit the stage at every possible opportunity, writing his masters thesis Humornomics from the back row of a comedy club. In less than two years, he was opening for international headliners and had performed on stages in over ten countries.
A versatile comedian and compare, in 2010 Michael was tapped to co-produced and host Hong Kong’s first ever Comedython – a 12 hour charity comedy show for the Hong Kong Dog Rescue.
Michael founded Comedy HK in 2012, responding to a reduction in performance opportunities for comedians in Hong Kong. Comedy HK produces live standup comedy shows in venues all across Hong Kong. Through the Comedy.HK website, Michael aims to promote the growth of all of Hong Kong’s comedy events in a single platform: all the clubs, all the shows, all in one place.
Prior to jumping full-time into the world of stand-up comedy, Michael graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned a Master’s of Economics in Hong Kong. He has worked in both the financial services and manufacturing sectors, and has extensive experience in sales and corporate training.
Michael currently calls Hong Kong his home. In addition to regular performing duties, he writes a regular column in Mirth + More, Asia’s first comedy and lifestyle magazine.
